Break Bad Habits in 2009

Breaking bad habits takes hard work. The physical and mental pain can be grueling, whether you’re trying to exercise more, smoke less, drink less, eat healthier, or work less…it’s never easy. But the benefits to your health and to your attitude can be priceless. Breaking a habit starts with courage, ends with discipline, and is fueled by desire.

I saw this recently, and would like to share it with you.

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest asset or heaviest burden.
I will push you up to success or down to disappointment.
I am at your command.
Half the things you do might just as well be turned over to me,
For I can do them quickly, correctly, and profitably.
I am easily managed, just be firm with me.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a
machine and the intelligence of a person.
You can run me for profit, or you can run me for ruin.
Show me how you want it done. Educate me. Train me.
Lead me. Reward me.
And I will then…do it automatically.
I am your servant.
Who am I?
I am a habit.

The author of the above is unknown, but the words are right on target. If you make good habits, they in turn will make you. But like the weeds in the garden, bad habits can take over your life. Make a decision today to pull those weeds.

1. Myra Surratt – Greater Works, Inc.

Greetings and Happy New Year to all!

I wanted to begin this New Year with exciting news about Greater Works, Inc.!

I know, seven years ago, I asked most of you for your support in making GWI’s vision become a reality. Seven years may seem as if it was a long time ago, however God is time and everything happens in HIS own time. There have been a lot of experiences, good and some that will be classified as “bought lessons” throughout the strategic development of GWI.

2009 will be the year for Greater Works, Inc. However, it can’t be done without your commitment and dedication. I hope this email will serve at least two purposes: to seek your continued support and to inform our current state of affairs.

Upcoming Events:

Greater Works, Inc. will be the host for the Seniors Pavilion for the 2009 Sweet Auburn Festival..GREAT EXPOSURE: http://www.sweetauburn.com/springfest2009/seniorspavilion.html

Greater Works, Inc. is planning a Golf Tournament-April 2009(fundraiser)
Greater Works, Inc. will be launching a t-shirt line…late Spring 2009
GWI will host it’s first “Great To Be Me” Youth Motivational Camp-Summer 2010

GWI’s current needs:

We are in need of the following volunteer positions to be filled:

Volunteer Coordinator
-Responsible for contacting GWI volunteers in reference to upcoming events..via email(Constant Contact or via Calling Post) Currently, we have 70 volunteers.

Fundraiser Coordinator
-Responsible for planning and executing finances for volunteer initiatives and events planned by GWI.

Communications Coordinator
-Responsible for assisting Myra Surratt and informing the staff of upcoming events via email and creating a monthly newsletter for volunteers and potential supporters. Seek endorsements from local dignitaries, communities and corporations. Also, seek partnership with like organizations. (this coordinator can create a team for assistance)

****We have a graphic designer who is creating our conceptual site plan for all communication and for our presentation to potential investors.

Throughout my networking, I have been blessed to meet people who are willing to assist in our efforts. Someone who stands out the most of Mr. Ron Broussard. Mr. Broussard is a consultant that is willing to offer his expertise with GWI’s mission. Currently, we have the opportunity to acquire 119 acres of land for GWI’s Campus….Multi-purpose facility, Assisted and Independent Living Community and Tri-Plex(transitional social rooms for women, men and children). Thanks Ron!

In order to continue our volunteer efforts, we are in need of funding.

We adopted the Imperial Nursing Home in Atlanta a couple of years ago. I would like for us to be consistent with our visitation. (Initially we visited every third Saturday, or as time permitted). 2009 let’s make it happen.

At this time $1,000 will carry us for the first half of the year. LET’S PLAN A FUNDRAISER OR PARTY. With our upcoming events, we will be in a position to carry on our efforts with commissions paid.

Our three volunteer initiatives are:

“Sit With Me”-we visit the Imperial Nursing home with Youth…we take refreshments for the staff and treats for the residents. *this should be a national endeavor

Youth Partnership-we support local youth groups with their activities.

Keep Our Neighborhood Clean-we select local neighborhoods in clean-up efforts. (these projects are explained in more detail on our web site)

GWI will not be a success without your input and dedication. I would like to schedule a monthly conference call, so that each of us can share ideas and offer suggestions. I will provide the number and schedule soon. If you are able to make the conference calls, that would be great!

LET’S THINK BIG IN 2009–LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN BIG IN 2009

About WOE Enterprises

A few years ago my life hit rock bottom. I looked into the bible and I saw the word woe.  I also wanted to see how the dictionary defined woe. Woe meant trials or tribulations. In life a woe to you might be a job loss and to another it might be a broken relationship.

One day I was thinking how I could reinvent my life so I wrote down the word woe on a piece of paper.

As the document spoke to me it revealed that woe now meant WOE as in Word of Encouragement. From there I received this slogan.

“Before you leave work or go to sleep tonight, give someone a WOE, a Word Of Encouragement.”
